BLACK SABBATH Debut Album (vinyl LP) - First Pressing. 1970 Vertigo Swirl Label VO 6 847 903 VTY Produced by Roger Bain of Tuesday Productions, for Tony Hall Enterprises.
This is the first issue, which was released on the ''swirl'' Vertigo label. It shows the big logo above spindle hole and the wording ''Vertigo'' below spindle hole, and 'A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT' text below that. It is the original European version of the record featured the pre-album single "Evil Woman" as the first track on the B-side.
It has a gatefold cover and with original ''swirl'' inner bag. The gatefold cover is slightly textured compared to later issues and has different upper-case only credits on inner gatefold.
Vertigo inner sleeve reports: 'MADE IN ENGLAND British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 - PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS - TO AVOID SUFFOCATION KEEP THIS BAG AWAY FROM BABIES AND CHILDREN'
This first issue release has an erroneous copyright warning stating that “Copyright subsists in all Stereo recordings…”. Subsequent ''swirl'' Vertigo reissues corrected copyright warning to “Copyright subsists in all Vertigo recordings…”
This first release has band member and production credits in capital letters throughout. Ozzy Osbourne is mis-spelt as Ossie Osborne.
Side A Label is Swirl pattern only - Runout is stamped "VO 6 1 Y * 1 420 1 2 1 2" Side B Label has track details for both sides - Runout stamped "VO 6 2 Y * 1 420 1 2 2"
