Hyper-rare private press LP by Black Voy Alley, self-released in 1972. Hailing from El Paso, Texas, these young lads offered up spirited takes of popular sounds of the day on their lone release. According to the Internet, only a handful of these are in circulation--just 2 copies have popped up in recent years via auction sites, one of which fetched $900 and change. Mostly, it's slim pickins information-wise when it comes to these guys or this LP, if information is what you're after, but if you're reading this, you probably know what's up for grabs. A "holy grail," for some? Extremely likely.
This copy is in very nice shape considering its age. The most obvious signs of wear lie with the jacket, which is actually still (mostly) housed in shrink wrap--about 90 percent if I had to guesstimate. The most obvious flaw with the jacket is the yellowing from age. There is a hint of ring wear, but only on the upper front portion. There is minor corner and edge wear, including a tiny bump in the upper-right-hand corner, where a tiny split has sprouted (see pic). There is also a tiny split that has formed in the lower-left-hand corner, which is visible through the shrink (see pic). It is confined to that area, however, and the rest of the spine is no worse off for the wear. Overall, everything is intact and the thick cardstock jacket is holding its own quite nicely. Most would grade this VG+ in a heartbeat, but I'm calling it VG because of the multiple minor flaws (yes, I'm picky).
The vinyl is in superb shape. In fact, given the condition of the center labels, which are super clean save for a tiny white scuff on side B only (see pic), this copy was clearly previously loved and not abused. No spindle marks of which to speak on either label, for example. The vinyl is very clean, with some light sleeve scuffing present and a handful of hairline marks, neither of which affect playability. There are also some wisp-like markings, most likely caused by the vinyl resting up against the dust cover while stored over the past 40 years. This is cosmetic only, of course; playability is excellent overall.
