PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Lucked out and finally found a SPARE Original first pressing of the mighty AME SON
Ame Son were one of the earliest underground 'head' bands to cross-pollinate progressive rock with psychedelic music and fringes of free jazz, as featured on their "Catalyse," Lp released in 1970. This platter has early Daevid Allen & Gong + early Soft Machine all over it with a heavier twist ...many tracks begin with avant-garde free-form jams that gradually develop into more structured song and rhythm, with lyrics in both French & English, but in always keeping the interests flowing they slip right into wild free-form freak-outs! Fantastic guitar leads wind around prominent whirling flute, drugged-out vocals ...the fuzzed-up electric guitar always navigating this late '60s underground vibe. Because of the great originality of the matrerial and quality of the musicianship, the album does not sound dated, like perhaps some similar releases from the era...
Considered as one of the first truly underground psych bands in France, AME SON were the brainchild of Marc Blanc and Patrick Fontaine,who both had played with Daevid Allen in Daevid Allen's Bannana Moon during a year period between 1968 and 1969. They decided to form their own band in 1969 in Paris along with Francois Garrel and Bernard Lavialle. AME SON signed with BYG Records, recored the instrumental parts of their first album in London within two days with the final mixing taking place in October 69'. In early 70' ''Catalyse'' sees the light and as great as it is, it's always been a hard LP to find...
Having played next to Daevid Allen, it is rather impossible both Blanc and Fontaine not to be influenced by this significant figure. Again, as mentioned above, AME SON blended 60's Psychedelia with a newly established complicated rock sound full of free jamming parts and weird passages to contribute on their own way to what we call today early progressive rock movement. All tracks contain plenty of obscure flute parts, truly psychedelic vocals which are at times expressive and intense. A few bizarre melodies, again based heavily and captivating flutes, mixed in nicely amid distortion (fuzz) guitar-work -- but also with a stable performance on bass and deep drums all the way; a very interesting rhythm section makes the album even more challenging
GONG are the first band that sticks to your mind and it is more than sure that AME SON have given their albums a lot of spins to inspire themselves...but add also some elements of pre-70's PINK FLOYD in the mixture.
''Catalyse'' is a moving experience for those listeners who are into the 60/70's transession from psychedelic pop to psychedelic rock. Anyone deep into GONG or Syd Barrett-era PINK FLOYD will should definitely enjoy this one.

BYG label pressings are known to be notoriously low-grade pressings, this one an exception, playing very enjoyable with no audio issues like we've heard with other BYG pressings that look clean.... both BYG labels are clean ... grabbb this "cool" adventurous hardpsych thriller!
