First pressing , as indicated by the different label addresses, which were present on all first pressings of this album ;
the subsequent 1963 reissue would have the NEW YORK USA address on BOTH labels.
BLP 4080 was the LAST Blue Note LP to have a 47 w 63rd label; all first copies have this one one side only.
(There are titles with numbers EARLIER than 4080 that have the later 'New York, USA' labels, but this is because they were released out of order)
Also after Blue Note 4058, only LATER pressings have 'deep groove' - first pressings have none! The new equipment that Plastylite bought and used
(starting with Blue Note 4059) did NOT press in the deep grooves, and this new equipment was always used for the first run; the older equipment
would have been used only for later pressings.

VINYL
Great in the room presence and enduring audio quality! Both sides of the vinyl are in excellent condition, with few marks.
There are a couple of slight non-feelable and non-audible minor surface marks on Side 1, which do not affect play.
Both sides of the vinyl play very nicely throughout, thanks to the combination of heavy duty vinyl and superior Rudy Van Gelder mastering.
Virtually no extraneous surface noise, just the occasional very light crackle in the very quietest passages, and no jumps or scratches.
The album has been cleaned on a professional VPI cleaning machine.
Both labels are still clean and presentable - no marks, writing, or other flaws.
A few light spindle marks on both sides, visible only under oblique light, but virtually no centre hole wear.
The Side 1 label does have some slight smearing (but no blurring) of the label text around the circumference
(on the '33 microgroove long playing' and ''Blue Note Records Inc New York USA'), but this is not too unsightly.

SLEEVE
The sleeve is in quite nice condition. (See pics below)
Front sleeve is still very nice; bright and clean, and retaining its original shine
Some slight corner bumping, but virtually no edgewear.
A little (slight) wear along opening edge, Slight corner crease to top right sleeve corner.
back sleeve has a couple of very slight creases around edges,
a tiny 1cm surface tear on pasteover edge, and some slight localised pinkish staining in same area (top left edge).
Back sleeve also shows some slight signs of dirt and wear - but rather fewer than you might expect from a 51-year old album!
