BLUES LP: JOE WILLIE WILKINS & HIS KING BISCUIT BOYS Adamo ADS 9507
This was the only album by legendary Delta & Memphis guitarist Joe Willie Wilkins, better known as a sideman with Sonny Boy Williamson on King Biscuit Time and on Trumpet Records. Tracks from various studio and concert dates from 1972 to 1976 feature two solo vocal/guitar pieces (Robert Johnson’s Me & the Devil Blues and Sonny Boy’s It’s Sad to Be Alone) and others with band members including guitarist Houston Stackhouse and hgarmonica players Sonny “Harmonica” Blakes, Boy Blue, Nate Armstrong and Greg “Fingers” Taylor. One cut, Tribute to Joe Willie Wilkins, is by Johnny Shines.
The LP bears the Memphis Blues Caravan logo on the front and the title It's Too Bad on the label. Wilkins was one of the veterans who toured with the Memphis Blues Caravan in the 1970s and some of the tracks on this LP were recorded on those tours.
Near mint copy in VG sleeve that shows ring wear and some corner damage.
