Description
This is an auction for a used, vinyl album by the legendary Oliver Nelson. The album is THE BLUES AND THE ABSTRACT TRUTH, which, in my book, is a jazz classic. It is on the Impulse label: Catalog # AS-5. The cover opens up into a double cover...though it is only one album. The ensemble is a dream cast of all-stars and it includes Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, George Barrow, Bill Evans(!), Paul Chambers and Roy Haynes. Engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. Jazz heaven!
The problem I am having with this, is trying to determine what year this came out. This may be the original 1962 recording. The year this came out is not on the cover or album. The inside cover gives two different catalog numbers; one for mono, and one for stereo. The front cover says "Stereo A-5." The album itself says "AS-5. The research I've done leads me to believe that this is the original stereo recording. This would make the information above invalid. This is not the 2005 version and there is no UPC code. Please email me if you have any identifying information.
This was in a private collection and the collector took great care of his records. The record and cover are in very good condition. The cover corners are not perfect...but quite fine nonetheless.
