Description

Blur - British Music Industry Award

 

This is a genuine Industry Award issued by Parlophone Records in 1995 to celebrate the #1 single ‘Country House and #1 album ‘The Great Escape’.  This was given to a select few employees following Blur’s ‘victory’ in the infamous chart battle with Oasis ‘Roll With It’ over ten years ago.  The award is in a large silver metal frame measuring 16x20 inches (41x51cms) and is in very good condition.  The plaque mounted on the award reads:

This award was produced by Century Displays, the official BPI (British Phonographic Industry) award manufacturer.  These awards were only presented within the music industry (in this case to a record co. employee), and should not be confused with any kind of replica or ‘limited edition’ discs that are sold direct to the public.   

 

Music memorabilia dealer, Eil, has a copy of this award priced at £275.  So this is a great opportunity to own a piece of Britpop history at a more reasonable price.
