Electric city i think is a unique record which encapsulates the music that was developing at that time. It allso shows Bob Downs other side, Bob at the same time was developing his trio him playing tenor and flute with bass and drums /percussion with his love of the greats like Sonny Rollins Roland Kirk as well es his own journey into the world of his imagination often influenced by the classic music of other cultures. Here Phillips recognises Bobs love of the blues an thankfully gave him complete support to make this record , I think it's very powerful the way all the musicians he chose to make this record got into the spirit of all the tracks.
