Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my spare beat and progressive music records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, an extremely rare 1st U.K. pressing of Bob Downes – Electric City on the SWIRL VERTIGO label, cat. no. 6360 005.
The record is in VG++ condition, there is a small sounding mark on the first track of side A (No Time Like the Present). This mark can be heard about halfway through the song. It produces very light clicks (not disturbing at all) on my record player. The rest of this album plays great. Further there are only a couple non-sounding hairlines. If the mark wasn’t there, I would have graded this record as a strong Excellent. The labels are in EX condition, there are a few spindle marks only.
The cover is in VG++ condition as well, there is only a sticker removal tear in the upper right hand corner. There is also a small dent in the top left hand corner. Besides mentioned imperfections, this cover looks great; no writing or other unwanted damage. Unfortunately the original Vertigo Swirl inner sleeve is missing.
This is an extremely rare Swirl Vertigo album of Bob Downes, called Electric City. This album didn’t sel well in 1970 and was deleted from the Vertigo catalogue very soon after release. And although there is a tiny mark on the first track (the music will overpower the clicks), the rest of the album plays fantastic. So, if you are a big fan of Bob Downes, a Swirl Vertigo collector or a prog music fan, this is a great, affordable copy!
