Here is one of the most important LP's of Bob Dylan's life--the debut album by Carolyn Hester. This was Dylan's 2nd recording session ever--September '61, preceded only by playing on Harry Belafonte's MIDNIGHT SPECIAL LP. This album, with Dylan on Harmonica, was the first time Dylan was seen by John Hammond, who ended up signing Dylan to Columbia Records and producing his early records (his LP was released before this was, however!) If you read Dylan's great new book CHRONICLES he talks extensively about the recording of this album, how he met and hooked up with Hammond at this album's sessions, and how much he held Carolyn Hester in high esteem. Hammond was the producer of this session, which also featured future Dylan sidemen Bruce Langhorne and Bill Lee (Spike's dad !) In addition, the liner notes were written by future Dylan PR man Billy James. Dylan knew Carolyn Hester through his playing at NY's FOLK CITY, and through her met her then- husband, Richard Farina, he soon recorded with in England, and who later married Joan Baez's sister Mimi. As you can see, a pivitol early session, to say the least. This first pressing on the 6-Eye Columbia label, has a promo sticker on the back cover and on the label, and -1 stamper numbers.
