Here’s a Bob Dylan record you probably don’t have! This is a Stereo pressing of the first Bob Dylan album with a sticker on the Columbia Six Eye Record Label reading “FOR DEMONSTRATION USE ONLY NOT FOR SALE”.

The front cover has a factory sticker that reads “A NEW STAR ON COLUMBIA RECORDS”. This sticker is complete and no attempt was ever made to remove it. The back cover has a large red ink stamp reading “DEMONSTRATION NOT FOR SALE”.

The dead wax has a machine-stamped matrix number of XSM-55621-1E (Side 1) and XSM-55622-1F (Side 2). Also in the dead wax is what looks like “C11” or “CII” (Side 1) and “B111” or “BIII” (Side 2).

COVER: VG, almost VG+. This cover has a 3 inch top left seam split. The front and back has minor surface wear, certainly not a lot for a cover this old. There is one tiny ink mark on the front just to the right of Bob’s mouth, and the name of DJ Ken Tyson written in small letters on the back. There is a bit of wear around the edges, and some rubbing where the paper has worn off of the corners. The cover has some small and light creases, mostly along the spine. There are two small areas on the left edge with light soiling, and one small area on the back right bottom edge with light soiling. Some of the paper on the back of the jacket is torn away in the bottom left, which measures about 3/4 inch tall by 6 inches wide at the largest points.

VINYL: EX, and a strong EX! This record has had a few plays, but not a lot. The vinyl is clean and retains much of its original glossy luster. Even under a lamp the vinyl shows only a bit of surface marking & surface scuffing and a small number of light surface scratches. The deepest scratch is a very small hairline at the beginning of Side 2, measuring about 1/4 inch, but not even this one can be felt on the grooves. Both the record labels have vivid color. The label on Side 1 has a small amount of light wear, and the demo sticker is beautifully placed and no attempt was ever made to peel it off. The label on Side 2 has hardly any wear and has the name of DJ Ken Tyson written neatly on it. This vinyl is overall a beautiful copy of a very hard to find record.   Click an Image to Enlarge
