Description
BOB DYLAN – SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES (2:17 Mono Mixes, both sides) – WHITE LABEL PROMO ON RED VINYL - Columbia 4-43242 (U.S. 45 rpm Mono). Disc is VG+; Labels are Near Mint Plus and VG+ (see explanation below and photos).
During Bob’s mid-60s electric period, a number of his singles were pressed on red vinyl, as promotional white label copies only. These are coveted by Dylan collectors as unique pressings. This issue features Bob’s first truly successful single, taken from the Bringing It All Back Home LP. One of the label sides of this particular copy is very close to Mint, though the other side was personalized by some DJ with the year “1965” written thereon and there is also evidence of a sticker having once been placed on the same side (now gone but not forgotten by a darkened area above the date - see photos). [Due to their faster turning speed and wider groove spread, 45 rpm pressings exhibit more detailed playback than LP pressings, which turn slower and feature more compacted groove spread.]
All vinyl records from VinylKing46 (eBay’s ORIGINAL VINYLKING) are pre-cleaned and inserted into paper inner sleeves before mailing to Buyer (unless factory sealed). Discs are packaged separately from sleeves to protect against seam splitting. Sleeves are inserted into mylar outer sleeves and both disc and sleeve are shipped in 7” EP/45-specific boxes and packed with bubble wrap or hard cardboard.
I grade conservatively and by Goldmine standards.
