In 1972, The Wailers had their first hit outside Jamaica when Johnny Nash covered their song "Stir It Up". The 1973 album "Catch a Fire" (ILPS 9241) was The Wailers primary release worldwide, opening the door for reggae music to the mainstream market. The original 1973 vinyl release only offered as a pressing of 20,000 copies and the cover was was encased in a sleeve depicting a Zippo lighter. The subsequent pressings that followed has the alternative cover designed in the left photo, with a portrait of Marley smoking a "spliff" or joint. This is a promo copy (right upper cut) and was removed from the jacket for the first time for the photo of the physical LP. In 1999, his 1977 album “Exodus” was named Album of the Century by Time Magazine and his song “One Love” was designated Song of the Millennium by the BBC. Since its release in 1984, Marley’s “Legend” compilation has annually sold over 250,000 copies.
