Description
Original 1st US pressing of The Wailers’ legendary studio album “Catch A Fire” released by Island Records on April 17, 1973. The first 20,000 copies of this original 1st issue came in a hinged cover with a "Zippo”" die cut which opens just like a lighter. This cover was hand-made and too expensive to be mass produced. 1st pressing Island Records pink label variation used from late 1970 to 1975, which is often called “Pink Rim” or “Palm Tree” label. I have seen some blue rimmed labels that sellers are passing off as 1973, this is inaccurate. The cover is nicer than most I've seen and would rate as high grade notwithstanding a lengthy crease down the right side of the back cover - front cover is clean. The top cover is fully functional and still originally attached at the hinge. The die cut sections are near mint. The original inner sleeve is still in nice, nearly unused condition. The vinyl is a high grade with only light wear. There are no scratches - only light marks from minimal use. Not perfect, but definitely near mint. The labels are like new.
