BOB SEGER SYSTEM "NOAH" Original 1969 U.S stereo LP edition of the classic Detroit Rock group (Capitol) ST-236 VG/VG+. Hard to find second album featuring "Death Row", "Innervenus Eyes" & the title track. Produced by Punch Andrews.
Bob Seger had made some inroads with "East Side Story" & "Heavy Music" with his previous band- The Last Herd. But they only had a singles deal with Cameo-Parkway Records & due to limited promotion, the records did not chart nationally even though they were substantial hits in their hometown of Detroit. After the label abruptly ceased operations in 1968, manager & producer Punch Andrews secured a more lucrative deal with Capitol Records. The group was re-christened the Bob Seger System & they scored a #17 smash with "Rambling Gambling Man" with their first release in late 1968. By the time of their second album in 1969, the System added Tom Neme- another singer, writer & lead singer. In fact, he wrote 5 songs for this LP but it is the Bob Seger compositions that made a lasting impact. "Noah" was released as a single & charted in Michigan but failed to crack the Top 100. Other strong tracks are "Innervenus Eyes" & especially "Death Row" which had been the B-side to "2 = 2 =?", a great anti- war rocker from the first album that deserved to be a hit. The Bob Seger System recorded one more album- 1970s "Mongrel" before Seger decided to go solo for a while before eventually re-emerging with the Silver Bullet Band & super-stardom in the mid 1970s. The "Noah" LP has become something of an anomaly in the Bob Seger catalog over the years. Original copies are hard to find & reissues are virtually non-existent.

Cover is intact but has medium ring wear on the front, edge wear & a small hole-punch (denoting a promo copy) on the lower left. Stock stereo record w/chartreuse Capitol labels (the etched ST1-236-A1 matrix number identifies it as a Scranton, PA pressing) has no scratches or scuffs & has received very few plays. It looks near MINT but is conservatively graded at VG+ due to slight surface noise during the quieter passages.
