Description
soundclip for Bobby Hutcherson - Rain Every Thursday/When You're Near on Blue Note
This auction consists entirely of instrumentals, and most of those are either soul jazz, funky jazz, straight-ahead jazz, or any kind of instrumental with a groove. (There are also a few oddball instrumentals). All of these records showed up in a ginormous collection of late 60s and early 70s stuff I happened upon recently, and I thought it would be fun to have one auction solely devoted to this style. Labels include Blue Note, Prestige, Riverside, Verve, Groove Merchant, World Pacific, Pacific Jazz, Blue Thumb, and SSS International.
Anyone interested in bidding on multiple auctions should know that I definitely will cut you a break on shipping. In fact, for American bidders I won’t charge more than three dollars total for shipping no matter how many 45s you buy, and I’ll also offer shipping discounts to international buyers who purchase more than one record. Just make sure that you don’t pay me until I’ve sent you an invoice (with the radically reduced shipping cost reflected); otherwise, it’s a lot of work trying to undo everything.
Grading on these 45s is based on what they look like visually—and I encourage you to listen to the sound clips, as there are definitely some records here that have a few scuffs that have zero surface noise. Note that sometimes the sound clips are for the B side instead of the A side in those cases where the A side had more of a groove to it. All the 45s in this auction have been cleaned and in a sleeve. Paypal is the only form of payment I accept. Please wait for an invoice before making payment.

RECORD GRADING:
NM (Near Mint): Like new, looks unplayed.
VG++: A few very faint surface marks, nothing that will affect play
VG+: A few more marks than a VG++. Used but not abused.
VG: Light scuffs and light scratches, there will be light surface wear to the record. Expect some light surface noise in parts or a few clicks or pops here and there.
VG-: The record may have some scratches that will be deep enough to feel. Audible clicks and pops may be consistently present, but no skips.
G: A record that has been played and not taken care of. Constant background noise will be present. Buyer should view records with this grade as filler copies.
