(((M-)))TOP COPY of "rare" British ONLY MID - SIXTIES first LP by the mighty Graham Bond Organization... (to say the least) a formidable crew of talents injected by 2/3 of what would become CREAM .

The MONO song mixes are both bold and vibrant!!!

Both graham bond organization albums luckily to have been released (with this line-up) are well documented essential collectibles delivering rave-up r&b jams with a happening style - highly valued rarities having sold for anywhere between $300 - $600 depending the on the competition among collectors at any given time...

From what we have been (just now) been able to determine, this (minty clean 50 years UK pressing) is the 1967 UK Columbia issue of the 1965 recording of the legendary studio session , values noted above apply since for instance available copies on Discogs at the moment for the same release are running anywhere from $225 (VG+) to $380. (M-) 

Contains the (original) laminated "flap-back" '60s overseas production style of manufacturing which dates this artifact to the '60s...

ALSO comes the original PRINTED inner sleeve ('67 first Pink Floyd "Piper" pictured but not past that date) ...

The second and final ORGANisation album There’s A Bond Between Us offered a slightly wider musical range played with the same intensity and Bond’s pioneering use of the Mellotron (before the Beatles, Stones and Moody Blues discovered it) presaged his move towards progressive music. After an erratic subsequent career and involvement with hard drugs and Satanism he was mysteriously found dead under a stationary London Underground train in 1974: a sad end to one of rock’s most colourful characters. Yeah but he's at the TOP of his game here, infectious style and song hooks throughout, there's a reason this album is so highly respected and not ONLY because of the CREAM members backing...

Graham Bond was an important (and imposing) figure in British music in the sixties and seventies. Bond was an innovator, on a par as those more celebrated British musicians such as Alexis Korner and John Mayall, who also served as a training ground for many musicians who are still rightly regarded highly half a century after they first took to a stage. Bond was initially known for playing alto saxophone while trying to scrape a living as a jazz musician on his chosen instrument. After a stint with Alexis Korner’s Blues Inc., Bond teamed up with fellow Korner members, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, and with guitarist John McLaughlin formed the Graham Bond Quartet before morphing into the Graham Bond Organization, dropping McLaughlin in favour of Dick-Heckstall-Smith on tenor sax while Bond played keyboards, heavily featuring the Hammond organ.

It’s not just fascinating for Bond devotees; anyone who has an interest in or is discovering British R&B for the first time will find plenty to enjoy here.

The toughest and most uncompromising band on London’s mid-60s R&B scene was The Graham Bond Organization. Fronted by the mercurial Bond, when this album was recorded in 1965, the line-up included a pre- Cream Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, and Dick Heckstall- Smith, who played with Colosseum.

Bond himself is the dominant figure, playing both organ and Mellotron on Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf, and having fun with "What’d I Say" and "The Night Time Is The Right Time" Other work-outs include Last Night, Don’t Let Go, Keep A Drivin’ and, despite the credit to Bond, an old blues song, Have You Ever Loved A Woman. Ginger Baker knocks hell out of his drums on Camels & Elephants.

By the time this was released in 1966, the line-up had changed. Apparently, Ginger Baker threatened Jack Bruce with a knife, promising, “If you show up again, I’ll kill you.”

CONDITION: The cover: rated: M-...lamiated 50 years before fragile cover has the old style 'flap-back' seams ... really nice final collection -- a beautiful (ARCHIVE) fresh appearance -- there are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ... VERY collection worthy ...

The vinyl: Rated: M- clean and clear across both sides meaning NO marks or scuffs, can't get better considering the date ... plays perfect ...final collection copy ...  UK =MONO= Columbia labels are CLEAN
