WHAT IS RATHER INCREDIBLE ABOUT THIS LOT IS THAT, AMONG NUMEROUS OPENED (UNSEALED) WHITE LABEL PROMOS FROM THIS COLLECTION, NOT A SINGLE ONE HAD A PROMO STICKER OR STAMP ON THE COVER (BUT DID HAVE A WHITE PROMOTIONAL LABEL!), AND WE SUSPECT THAT THIS GENTLEMAN USED TO RECEIVE (QUITE LITERALLY) PROTOTYPES OF THESE CLASSIC TITLES EVEN BEFORE THE DISTRIBUTOR HAD A CHANCE TO MARK THEM AS PROMOTIONAL BY STAMPING OR STICKERING THEM AS PROMOTIONAL.  IN VIEW OF THIS, WE STRONGLY SUSPECT THAT SOME OF THE STILL SEALED ITEMS FROM THIS LOT ARE, IN FACT, WHITE LABEL PROMOS, BUT NOT CLEARLY MARKED AS SUCH.    WE CAUTION THAT THE BIDDERS SHOULD NOT BID IN EXPECTATION THAT THEY WILL FIND WHITE LABEL PROMO INSIDE.

Simply the greatest Booker T & the MGs album ever recorded, at the very pinnacle of their fame & fortune, while they were touring Europe with the Stax/Volt Soul Revue and Otis Redding and being showered with love and admiration by the throngs of the worshipping Europeans. This album demonstrates the evolution of the band from the Stax house band that played covers and originals, to a veritable jazz/funk/fusion band. "Soul Jam" on side 2 must be the first true jazz/rock fusion in history, way before Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra and others attempted the same trick. Still, the band covers a few tracks by other artists, such as Ray Charles, George & Ira Gershwin, James Brown and Lee Dorsey. (a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 7:1.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
