Description
TCHAIKOVSKY 'STRING QUARTETS 1, 2 & 3 AND STRING SEXTET 'SOUVENIR DE FLORENCE'' 1988 STEREO 2LP.
THE BORODIN STRING QUARTET WITH YURI BASHMET, VIOLA & NATALIE GUTMAN, CELLO.
Original recordings in Moscow April 1978 to December 1980.
Digitally remastered, pressed in Germany and released on EMI/MELODIYA EL 7 497751.
Play grades as EX+/EX/EX-/EX.
Play graded on a Pro-Ject Essentials III Bluetooth deck fitted with an Ortofon OM10 cartridge, an Acrylic turntable mat & a Pro-ject 'Clamp-It' record clamp, sent through a Naim Mu-So QB2 Wireless speaker system.
Sounds great!
On all sides all musical passages play clearly & brightly.
There are no sticks, jumps or skips and no evidence of any groove wear at all.
There is also a little quiet, brief dust noise in just a few places across sides 2 & 3.
Side 3 has a soft 'tic', about 2/3 of the way across the side, that repeats 10 times. There is a faint, double surface mark about 3-4 cm. long at about 12 o'clock which is the only cause of the 'tic' that I can find.
When tilted under normal lighting all four sides appear to be unmarked except for a small (~1cm.) light scuff in band 1 of side 4 at about 10 o'clock (this causes a 'tic' that repeats 4 times), and the faint double mark in side 3 mentioned above.
When tilted under halogen lights there are only a couple more short, faint marks visible across all four sides.
Gatefold sleeve, with notes in English & German grades as EX.
Inner sleeves grade as EX.
I USE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADINGS AND USE A +/- WHERE I FEEL THAT IT'S APPROPRIATE.

Before placing in the mailer I take LPs out of the sleeve place both in a polysleeve and between two card stiffeners and if there is a picture sleeve I place the LP in a plain sleeve to prevent knifing of the picture sleeve. [all this costs £0.80/single LP].
