CAT PEOPLE [PUTTING OUT FIRE, DAVID BOWIE/
PAUL'S THEME, GIORGIO MORODER
(BACKSTREET picture disc, no #, but same takes as on regular-issue release [BSR-52024], US 45, 1982)

This was the first version of "Putting Out Fire," which predates the LET'S DANCE take by about a year. It was issued in a regular disc (with picture sleeve), and in this short-run picture-disc variant. Both discs have the same matrix numbers for both sides. The A-side appears to be the shorter 3:18 version. An interesting curio for Bowiephiles!

CONDITION: [disc] Some light scuffing/wear to playing surface. Vinyl still bright and lustrous. By our admittedly conservative grading standards, we'll call this a FINE condition 45. (See scan of pic disc's B-side at the bottom of this ad page!)

#############################################################################

Disc will be very carefully and sturdily packed. Insurance is mandatory--for your peace of mind and ours too! Good news: it's cheap--typically $1.65 for items valued up to $50.00.  Priority Mail shipping is (generally speaking) $7.50 to East Coast, $6.50 to Midwest, $5.50 to West Coast. Results may vary, depending on packed weight of record(s). Media Mail is also an option, although it's more risky. If you insist, we'll ship via Media Mail, but we'll need your Zip Code before we can calculate postage costs!

ATTENTION NON-USA BIDDERS: We welcome bids from non-US customers.
However, before bidding, please be aware of the following:
For one 45 RPM disc, the average cost of shipping for USPS First-Class Mail International is $8.00 USD. For one LP disc, the average cost of shipping for USPS First-Class Mail International is $13.00 USD. The actual shipping cost will vary, depending on your location.

Postage varies from country to country, so it's not possible for us to state the exact postal costs for each item in these auction ads.

In general, with a winning bid of $10-$20 USD, you will pay as much for shipping as you will for the record. Bear this in mind when making your bids. Any shipping-related questions? We're just an e-mail away!

On Dec-21-07 at 23:34:52 PST, seller added the following information:

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING! I deeply apologize for the fact that this item's initial inaccurate description got past me - its original owner - after having been posted by my friend and (generally) more eBay-savvy business partner. Since it has already received bids, I can't edit the primary description and must depend upon your seeing this supplemental correction.

My partner's description implies that the two sides of the picture disc being offered here are different from each other, parallel to their standard-issue counterpart 45. This, however, is not the case. The promotional picture disc on offer here has the Backstreet single version (4:08 vs. the LP's 6:43) of "Cat People" on both sides and DOES NOT include the Giorgio Moroder track "Paul's Theme" anywhere. This version of "Cat People" is the (some, including myself, say superior) one produced by Mr. Moroder, not the later David Bowie/Nile Rogers-produced version included on David's "Let's Dance" LP.

If you have already placed a bid on this item based on your impression that it includes the stock-copy B-side, "Paul's Theme," you are excused from your bidding obligation with my apologies for the misinformation. Should that be the case, please drop me a line to let me know; my intent is to limit bidding consideration to those interested in the item as correctly described in this addendum. If, on the other hand, you're drawn to super-rare promo picture discs with the same super-rare version of the same song plugged on both sides, then bid on this one with confidence - early, high, and often - and good luck!

Thanks so much,

David (spectorcollector)
