Here’s a fabulous copy of this extremely rare second album from Boxer. After Patto broke up in 1973, Mike Patto and Ollie Halsall got back together to form Boxer. Their first album ‘Below The Belt’ sold reasonably well, but was a bit disappointing musically. In 1976 they reconvened at the Manor to record this album, which is a far stronger effort. Their version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Teachers’ is a stand-out track featuring some blistering Halsall guitar work. However, once Virgin had pressed up copies, they decided not to release it. The line-up disbanded, and Patto formed a new Boxer. Then, for some reason, in 1979 Virgin decided to issue ‘Bloodletting’, so they printed up sleeves and released it in tiny quantities. As punk was now happening, it sold hardly any copies, and was deleted almost immediately. This is therefore, one of the rarest Patto/Halsall items. The sleeve is in great shape, just a minimal bit of ring-wear, and I’d grade it EX-. The vinyl is in brilliant condition, hardly a mark. I’d grade it a strong EX or NM. Don’t miss it.
