ITEM DESCRIPTION: Out-of-print, original 12” stereo LP record of the Boys’ Choir of St. Mary’s Hall, Stonyhurst, Lancashire. Five of the items on this LP have credited solo treble passages.
This record was issued by specialist choral music label Abbey Recording Company Limited, Oxford. As with all of Abbey’s LPs, the repertoire chosen makes for a unique programme and includes two items composed by Masters of Stonyhurst from their musical about the life of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Choir of St. Mary’s Hall is directed by Harry Duckworth. On this recording, the all-male Choir consists of 27 treble choristers and 20 altos. On four of the items on this recording the choir is augmented by 4 tenors and 5 basses from the former Preston Catholic College Choir. Individual Choir members’ names are all listed on the rear of the sleeve. The organist is Philip Jones. The recording was made in 1981.
Vinyl is in NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT condition. Sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition, light wear, the remnants of a small circular sticker on the front of the sleeve. The rear of the sleeve contains notes on the Choir, the works and the organ. The scan shows the upper portion of the LP sleeve.
