before their classic VERTIGO release in 1972...

This album is actually rarer and even unknown to

many.

The band is playing a very nice mystic psych/pop music

with dreamy organ sound,beautiful vocal harmonies,

stoned feel,nice guitar work…Oh Calcutta is a celebration

of sex in song and dance,word and deed and nude and cladas

as  the backcover liner notes explain...

It’s the first example of the “Blue Theatre” …

This was originally an avant-gardish theatrical experiment

and it’s sexy,dirty,vulgar,beautiful,elegant,bare-assed

entertainment…

It has taken all that is wonderful from the strip-club,

the bordello,and the porno-shop and mixed it all up into

a tremendously popular revue…
