BREAD, LOVE & DREAMS - The Strange Tale Of Captain Shannon And The Hunchback From Gigha

Lovely condition, eminently presentable and long deleted 1970 UK 1st press prog/psych/folk rarity, direct from the legendary BBC record archive

Year/Label : 1970 UK DECCA Label number : SKL 5048 Matrix numbers : ZAL - 9694.P-1W, ZAL9695.P-1W Stampers :  1 U  /  1 U
Excellent (EX) condition vinyl -  glossy, completely flat and weighty with no scratches or hairlines, just some sporadic and very light, non-obvious "shadowing" where the vinyl has reacted with the poly lining from the original inner sleeve through decades of storage - this shadowing is a little more noticeable in each of the dead wax areas when the record is held up to the light. On side 1 there is a 2cm very light and strictly surface only scuff mark - purely superficial but nonetheless because of this solitary scuff mark and to be a little more specific and accurate, I would grade the condition of side 1 as VG+ and side 2 as EX+, equating to an overall "excellent" (the wonderful stereo sound quality underlines this).  Excellent (EX) condition labels with just a single and faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole on the side 2 label. Each label has the BBC stamp (see photos) which, for me, is the official mark of 1960/70's authenticity and only adds to the collectability of these prized LP's.  I find it difficult to grade the condition of the original outside laminated outer sleeve and I do urge you to look at my photos carefully. All edges are firm and unscuffed, including a near perfect and rigid spine, and the cover remains in overall great condition and a highly presentable state. It has two hole punches towards the left side to which a further "loose" gatefold polythene sleeve has been attached with a 9.5cm x 20cm sticker attached to the outside of this polythene sleeve on the front side, along with a smaller sticker to the top left, and two further stickers on the reverse side. There is also a further vertical sticker affixed to the front-side original laminate adjacent to the opening edge. With care I am sure these stickers are removeable. But my view is why would anybody want to remove any of these stickers? For me they form an intrinsic component in the rich 54 year old story covering the origin and journey of this LP, which undoubtedly includes the handling of this record by BBC disc jockey luminaries such as John Peel, Paul Gambiccini, and Annie Nightingale to name but three. What a conversation piece! This LP was once part of what is generally agreed to have been the greatest record collection on earth - these stickers authenticate and rubber stamp that, and for that reason I for one would never want to remove them!   Excellent (EX) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, distortion, interference or background crackle. Crystal clear stereo sound quality throughout - clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played - with each and every track a great listen.  Comes with original DECCA blue and white and correctly dated "7-70" "MADE IN ENGLAND" and "British patent..." poly lined inner sleeve with no side splits or tears, just the hint of some very mild ageing towards the sides, and a single diagonal crease in one corner. Note that I always ship in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    Long deleted and a true rarity - just try finding a 1st press copy of this LP in as impressive condition as this?!
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £17 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
