Description
Up for auction is a rare copy of the self-titled "Brew Moore" album released on Fantasy Records (3264) in 1956. This is a guaranteed, original first U.S. Mono, deep groove, flat edge pressing on red vinyl. Features the playing of Cal Tjader. See photo of album cover for track listing.
Cover is in excellent condition, presents very nicely. Front graphics are generally clean, only a small hint of ring wear and rubbing loss (see photo). Corners are sharp with only a small amount of rubbing. Lower right corner is slightly bumped. Back cover is nice and clean, no ring wear, no real age discoloration, nice and bone white. Minor moisture spot in lower left corner. Seams are strong, intact, no splits, only minor rubbing on bottom seam. Otherwise, a very attractive cover--this cover, having a matte finish, was very prone to wear and rubbing loss, but this copy has survived in very nice condition. Grade the cover Excellent (EX).
Vinyl is still in decent shape, a good amount of its original shine. Each face has a number of light marks and hairlines, but nothing deep or significant. Vinyl has definitely been played and enjoyed a number of times. Play tested, the record still sounds good, though there is a certain amount of minor surface noise and light ticks that can be heard in the quieter passages, but it's not too distracting, no skips or pops. During the louder passages, the record sounds very nice. Not audiophile clean, but still an enjoyable listening experience of this rarity. This record should be played in mono mode, for optimum sound reproduction, as stereo mode will always tend to exaggerate any imperfections. Grade the vinyl somewhere between VG and VG+. This is still a much superior and more collectable copy than most of the cheap reissues that are commonly for sale on eBay. Such original copies rarely come up for sale.
