Description
I'm glad I actually listened to this record before offering it to you! The label reads, J.E. MAINER'S DIXIE MOUNTAINEERS, who were a respected hillbilly band from North Carolina. This was from their first, lengthy, session for Bluebird in 1935. I was preparing to write about their wonderful red-hot ensemble and all, but when I touched needle to disc, got a big surprise:
It's a solo! DADDY JOHN LOVE, singing and playing his own guitar, does "BROKEN HEARTED BLUES," very much in the Jimmie Rodgers style, and the classic "GREENBACK DOLLAR." Some shock! The moral here is, don't believe everything you read.
This original 78rpm "Buff" Bluebird B-6090 is in nice overall EE- condition. Some scratches, a tiny bit of wear. The label is faded.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
