Jackpine Savage -- Together LP

(a participation musical-concept album for all children)

Original 1971 US stereo release on Dimension 5 Records (catalog # D 151, original silver labels).

Classic 1971 release on Bruce Haack's Dimension 5 label only this time he's going it under the peculiar pseudonym of Jackpine Savage, joined by Esther Nelson. Quoting Jackpine, "This album will help you get it together - and probably every member of your family will tune in - together........ Play this album on stereo equipment. The spaced out movement from speaker to speaker is important. Sometimes listen with earphones at moderate volume - you never know what you might discover." haha! My favorite track is "Rain of the Earth", which has a trippy Syd Barrett feel. The song is introduced as "Well, this is a science fiction song about Children from another galaxy who had set their controls for the heart of the sun and ended up on our planet." The song that follows sounds like Pink Floyd's "See Saw." This is an excellent experimental psych album and quite rare to boot, with crazy spaced out panning synth sounds, Musique concrète cuts, pre-industrial analog electronics, beats and psychedelic lyrics... parts of this record actually sound like The Residents.

For anyone interested in the psychedelic children's music movement that Bruce Haack helped develop along with Raymond Scott (which still has a powerful effect on the development and playfulness of children's music), or if you are interested in the early electronically-laced pop works of people like Curt Boettcher, Joe Meek or Brian Wilson in the 1970s, definitely check out the mini masterpiece that is Jackpine Savage's Together.

CONDITION: Cover G / Vinyl VG+   ex-library copy which has been very professionally bound inside a heavy-duty library gatefold sleeve with double-reinforcement... the cover has been split in half in order to fit into the gatefold, there's a sticker on front and a little writing on back, the outside of the sleeve (NOT the cover) has been reinforced with black tape; vinyl has some light wear and a bit of scuffing, plays pretty well with a bit of surface noise audible at the start of each side and in a few quiet spots; labels have a little writing on one side and stamps on both.

Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards [G / G+ / VG / VG+ / NM / ]
grade only used if record is brand new.

NOTE: shipping is a little higher than normal for this LP because of the oversized and heavy hard plastic sleeve it's in. If you want me to just ship the cover and vinyl, without the heavy outer sleeve, the shipping would cost less (it would be the normal rate for one LP.)

All records are packaged securely, protected by both stiff and cushion packaging, with vinyl (in original innersleeve) removed from cover and placed safely in poly sleeve to help prevent seam splitting during transit.
