COMMENTS: This is an authentic 20X24 COLUMBIA 20X PLATINUM SALES AWARD to celebrate the sale of 20,000,000 copies that was presented to our stores, Believe In Music.
         While most gold or platinum record awards use vinyl records that have been vacuum metallized and tinted, this is a side 1 plated metal stamper.  It is with all certainty a retired stamper that was used in the pressing of "Born In The USA".  All letters and numbers in the run-out are reverse mirror images.  This is very clear in the photo of the catalogue number and in the photo of "MASTERDISK".  The "R L" for Robert Ludwig is also a mirror image.  There is nothing in the run-out that isn't related to mastering (such as a pressing matrix).  The catalogue number AL-38653 is correct for "Born In The USA".  This was a very significant milestone for Columbia and I can find no reference as to how many stampers (or masters, mothers), were used for award plaques.  The label is a special label that was made for this award showing all 12 tracks on the album. There is no side number on the label.  Checked against a regular copy the dead wax between tracks is correct for side one.              The signature of Bruce Springsteen on the label is not hand signed, it is a facsimile.  The award has a blue, plastic covered wood frame with a sawtooth hanger.  It is double matted with red & white over blue.  It has a plexiglass front and a paper backing.  The CD cover is bowed as it was only center glued.  The award is fully intact with small dings on the top of the frame.  Please see the photos for grading details.
