After two critically acclaimed but poor-selling LPs, Bruce Springsteen was about to be dropped by his record company. With everything on the line, he encapsulated all his frustration, anger, talent, and passion in this breakthrough recording. This is his defining moment, his announcement that he was an artist to be reckoned with, not only in the mid-1970s but for decades to come.
Bolstered by a sympathetic underpinning by the legendary E Street Band, the songs reflect the romantic majesty that characterizes Springsteen's timeless message of faith, hope, and strength. By far his most far-reaching recording.
Personnel: Bruce Springsteen (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Steve Van Zandt (vocals); Suki Lahav (violin); Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone); David Sanborn (baritone saxophone); Clarence Clemons (saxophone, background vocals); Randy Brecker (trumpet, flugelhorn); Wayne Andre (trombone); Danny Federici (organ); Roy Bittan (keyboards, glockenspiel, background vocals); David Sancious (keyboards); Garry Tallent, Richard Davis (bass); Max Weinberg, Ernest "Boom" Carter (drums); Mike Appel (background vocals).

Note: I haven't cleaned this 46-year-old vinyl record because everybody seems to prefer their own methods. I'll leave the cleaning up to the buyer. Also, I'm not a professional vinyl seller or buyer. This comes from my own collection. Bought at Books, Strings & Things, downtown Blacksburg VA.
