Description

  • Bruce Springsteen released his fifth studio album "The River" in October 1980 on Columbia Records. It was his first album to hit No. 1 in the charts and it's filled with songs that have become staples of his live concert sets including "Hungry Heart," "Fade Away," "Cadillac Ranch," "Two Hearts," "I'm A Rocker," and "You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch.)

  • This double album (PC2-36854) is from the first pressing and is in exceptional condition. It is still in its original factory shrink wrap and along with the two card-stock inner pictures sleeves easily grades VG+. Please see the pictures. It play tested cleanly and is VG+ which is as high as I go on vintage vinyl. This record was mastered by Ken Perry (Sides B & C) and Chet Bennett (Sides A & D) at Capitol Records in Hollywood and was pressed at the Columbia Records plant in Pitman, N.J. The dead wax on Side 1 is etched with P AL 36855 G/B Chet.

  • In addition to its original packaging, this album will come with a high quality Anti-Static Round Bottom Inner Sleeve to hold the vinyl disc and a sturdy 3 mil. polyethylene Archival Quality Outer Sleeve.  It will ship securely in the special corrugated Album Mailer seen in the last picture.

  • This vintage 12" vinyl album has been sitting upright on a shelf in climate controlled storage for the past 40 years. It has not been played in decades other than a quick test spin for this sale which found no skips or obvious flaws. Like all used records it should be cleaned and wiped with an anti-static brush to minimize the occasional pops that are part of playing vinyl albums. Buyers should note that this is a well-cared for but used record and it will have some minor imperfections.
