“THE AMAZING BUD POWELL, VOLUME 3” - Bud Powell - Blue Note BLP 1571 - blue/white label, 47 West 63rd NYC address on both sides, deep groove on both sides, very heavy vinyl, the Ear or P symbol etched into the deadwax and the RVG (Rudy Van Gelder) stamp - first mono pressing!! - clean mono first pressings of this LP routinely sell for in excess of $200, and sometime flirt with $400!! - - amazing 1957 LP with Powell at the height of his powers, leading a trio with Paul Chambers and Art Taylor, with Curtis Fuller added his sublime trombone on Side 2!! - - the vinyl grade is VG+ (strong), with fairly light, inconsistent surface noise, the rare pop here or there, nothing major (worst is 3 soft clicks at the beginning of the last track on Side 1) - the soundstage on this LP is deep, Powell’s piano is recorded well, even the bass sounds supple and loud (something often lacking in Blue Notes) and you can discern the inflections in his voice as he moans along!! - sounds great! (for those with a mono cartridge the noise floor might be lowered further) - the cover grade is VG (strong), with almost the entire top seam split and old tape repair, but otherwise a pretty spiffy cover!!- - check out the jazz album review at All Music Guide.com!!
I am a longtime collector of jazz LPs and most of the LPs offered are from my personal collection. The LPs have been play-graded. I rarely will use NM- (my highest grade for an opened LP) and differentiate between VG+ and VG with additional language such as (strong), (solid), and weak). I am known for my conservative grading - just check my feedback!!
I know how to package and ship LPs safely and only use LP cardboard mailers with added cardboard inserts or bubblewrap. All LPs are in sleeves and have already been removed from their covers for shipment. I do not overcharge for shipping and will combine LPs to save you shipping costs.
Media Mail for a single LP in the continental U.S. is $4 - $1 for each additional LP / item. Priority Mail for a single LP in the continental U.S. is $6.25 - $1 for each additional LP. Ignore the Ebay shipping costs, especially for multiple items. If you purchase more than one item or listing wait for a combined shipping invoice from me before sending payment.
I welcome international bidders and will ship anywhere the U.S. Postal Service ships! Shipping rates will vary on where you live and the weight of the package. I never charge more than $2 over the actual shipping costs to cover my handling expenses. I usually ship between 1 to 3 business days after receiving payment.
All packages shipped in the U.S. require Delivery Confirmation at a cost of .75. International bidders must pay for registered mail if available. I reserve the right to cancel your bid if confirmed delivery is not available in your country or you are unwilling to pay for such service.
If you are not satisfied with the LP due to a grading issue please notify me before leaving feedback. I accept returns up to one week after delivery and will refund the cost of the LP or LPs but not your shipping. The LP must be returned in the same condition you received it in order to obtain a refund.
