Description

Up for sale is a definitive, highly coveted piece of jazz history: an absolute original 1959 US Mono First Pressing of Bud Powell’s masterpiece, "The Scene Changes" (Blue Note 4009). This copy features every single critical indicator required by serious collectors to verify its status as an untouched first edition run.

### VINYL PROVENANCE & IDENTIFICATION:

* Runout Matrix Etchings: BLP 4009 A / BLP 4009 B

* Mastering: Authentic "RVG" machine stamp in the dead wax (Rudy Van Gelder).

* Pressing Plant: Hand-etched cursive "P" / Plastylite "Ear" present in the runout wax on both sides.

* Center Labels: Blue and white "33⅓ Microgroove Long Playing" labels featuring the landmark "47 WEST 63rd • NYC" address with NO "Inc." or "®" trademark logos. Complete with the physical historical deep groove impression.

### CONDITION GRADING:

* VINYL: Very Good Plus (VG+) to Near Mint (NM). The disc retains a beautiful, mirror-like glossy shine. There are no scratches, no feelable digs, and no hairline scuffs. It has been incredibly well-preserved in its original transparent protective plastic inner lining. This is a top-tier archive-worthy disc ready for high-end playback.

* CARDBOARD JACKET: G The outer jacket shows typical vintage age-yellowing and shelf wear along the corners. There is a superficial cosmetic surface scratch running across approximately half of the front cover art (does not break through the cardboard layout). Additionally, there is a clean 2-inch seam split/slit on the bottom right-hand corner edge. The spine and top seams remain intact and fully legible

Original clear plastic inside liner cover
