Up for your Consideration is this Used 33-1/3 LP Jazz  Album by “BUD POWELL” Titled “The Scene Changes“”Vol.5”…Recorded Dec 29, 1958…Originally released in 1958 on Blue Note Record Label --with a product number of BLP 4009  … MONO Pressing LP Vinyl Condition: NM- : Album is in excellent condition and shows no visible signs of wear or damage that will affect sound quality …The original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines almost like new…Dead Wax or Run Off has “VAN GELDER”  also has the “Ear Mark” inscribed in Vinyl...Paper Sleeve: Thumbprint  Blue Note Records Inc. 43 West 61st St New York 23, NY.”...Labels Condition: VG++…has the (Blue and White Label) said to be the… Blue Note East Coast - Mono 1st pressing, reads: "BLUE NOTE RECORDS· 47 WEST 63rd· NYC" (around 1958~1962)”…No “R” Or “INC.” Deep Groove (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings) Album Cover Condition: NM-,” Very little if any ware A’’ Very High Gloss Cover “BLUE NOTE RECORDS – 47 West 63rd St., New York 23”…Over all Albums in NM-/NM- Condition … I have listed a rating chart below... History

One of the giants of the jazz piano, Bud Powell changed the way that virtually all post-swing pianists play their instruments. He did away with the left-hand striding that had been considered essential earlier and used his left hand to state chords on an irregular basis. His right often played speedy single-note lines, essentially transforming Charlie Parker's vocabulary to the piano (although he developed parallel to "Bird"). Tragically, Bud Powell was a seriously ill genius. After being encouraged and tutored to an extent by his friend Thelonious Monk at jam sessions in the early '40s, Powell was with Cootie Williams' orchestra during 1943-1945. In a racial incident, he was beaten on the head by police; Powell never fully recovered and would suffer from bad headaches and mental breakdowns throughout the remainder of his life. Despite this, he recorded some true gems during 1947-1951 for Roost, Blue Note, and Verve, composing such major works as "Dance of the Infidels," "Hallucinations" (also known as "Budo"), "Un Poco Loco," "Bouncing with Bud," and "Tempus Fugit." Even early on, his erratic behavior resulted in lost opportunities (Charlie Parker supposedly told Miles Davis that he would not hire Powell because "he's even crazier than me!"), but Powell's playing during this period was often miraculous.

Terms of Sale

If you feel I have misrepresented your item and feel that it is not at all what I have described it to be, please notify me ASAP with your concerns so we can try to work out a positive solution. Please don't let me hear of a problem for the first time in the feedback you leave for me before I have a chance to evaluate your concerns. (Once the feedback is left it is out of my hands)...The item MUST be returned within 7 days (International 2 wks) after notification at the customer?s expense. It MUST come back in the same shipping container, material and condition it was sent out in. All tags and/or stickers MUST still be attached when I receive the item back, NO EXCEPTIONS.
