Description

THIS ONE OF A KIND SUPER RARE ITEM I PRESENT TO YOU IS AN AUSTRALIAN PRESSED ACETATE OF BUDDY HOLLY/THE CRICKETS SINGING:

 'OH BOY/NOT FADE AWAY'.

THIS WAS FOUND IN A RECORD COLLECTION WHICH WAS PURCHASED FROM A LADY WHOSE HUSBAND USED TO WORK FOR  FESTIVAL RECORDS (THE DISTRIBUTOR OF BOTH SONGS AND ALSO CORAL AND BRUNSWICK) WHO HAD PASSED AWAY AND SHE SOLD HIS HORDE OF MATERIAL. THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THESE DID NOT EVEN KNOW THEY WERE THERE AND SHE SAID TO HIM: DO YOU WANT TO TAKE THESE AS WELL? THERE WERE MANY MORE OF JOHNNY O'KEEFE AND BILL HALEY AND SOME OTHERS WHOM I AM UNABLE TO IDENTIFY.

I HAVE PLAYED THEM ONCE ONLY AS EVERYBODY KNOWS YOU DO NOT PLAY ACETATES ON A REGULAR BASIS HOWEVER I AM AWARE THEY DO PLAY.

THEY ARE AS IN ALL ACETATES VERY  RARE AND I KNOW MOST OF THE SONGS ARE INDEED CLEAR AND LOUD ON THE DISCS.

I UNDERESTAND YOU WOULD HAVE TO PLAY THEM ONCE YOU GOT THEM (IF THEY SELL) BUT I WOULD ADVISE AGAINST REGULAR PLAY.

All vinyl listed on auction has been cleaned, played and visually inspected so that you may bid with confidence. Albums (LPs) and Extended Plays (EPs) are sent with the record outside of the cover and placed in an outer plastic sleeve (to prevent ring-wear) before safely packed.

Where required, the sleeves have been cleaned with a secret formula to eradicate as much ring-wear and built up dirt as possible.

Multiple items won will be combined to save on postage.

ENQUIRIES ARE WELCOME AT ANYTIME, HOWEVER, PLEASE ALLOW 24 HOURS FOR A RESPONSE AS I MAY BE AWAY.

For grading purposes I play side one only of an EP or 45 (mainly the ‘A’ side) and a few tracks on side one of an LP.

I also grade records on a perceived appearance basis. I then combine them for an overall grading. I believe this to be the most effective way of grading records. Some records can look ordinary but they play well and vikky vika.

If unhappy with my product in any way please contact me, Roddy Jordan by telephone 02 66875339 or overseas 011 61 2 66875339 or by email: hollysbuddy1@bigpond.com or at 18 Montwood Drive Lennox Head 2478 N.S.W. Australia.

I do not accept any responsibility for lost parcels especially to France.

I use the English Record Collectors Magazine Guidelines for gradings as this appears to be the generally accepted term of reference with variances to + or minus. Below are grading scales.

GRADING DEFINITIONS FROM THE ENGLISH RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just about playable, but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

THERE ARE VARIANCES + OR - TO THE ABOVE ASSESSMENTS.
