GRADING
MINT - A mint item must be absolutely perfect.
NEAR-MINT - The record shows no obvious sign of wear. Equivalent of the same rating on the Goldmine system.
EXCELLENT - Records in excellent condition have a minimum of visual or audible imperfections, which will not detract much from your enjoyment of owning them. My equivalent of the Goldmine VG+ rating - shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sign are OK.
VERY GOOD - A VG record shows light signs of wear and tear, with only very light flaws or abrasions. There may be slight surface noise, but nothing that will spoil your appreciation of the music. Somewhere between VG and VG+ on the Goldmine rating system.
VERY GOOD MINUS - Records with a rating of 6 are the equivalent of the Goldmine VG - Surface noise is evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
GOOD - The equivalent of Good on the Goldmine system. Good does not mean bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. Good condition records will show definite signs of wear and tear, probably evidencing that no protective care was given the item. A Good record is good enough to fill a hole in your collection until a better one comes along, and often - in the case of rarities - is the best you can hope for!
FAIR - Similar to Good except a bit more wear & the record may have one or more skips. I would consider this a filler.
POOR - Definite fillers only.
