Description
Wow, this is a very nice 1961 LP release by Decca records on its Colorband label featuring the one and only Buddy Holly entitled "That'll Be The Day". This vinyl LP, being the last studio album (various recordings from 1956) was Buddy's last studio album. The 11 songs include some of the lesser known songs sung but not written by Buddy. The vinyl is a re-issue of the early Decca 1957 release and is on the Colorband label. This vinyl is flat as the West Texas desert (i.e. no warping) and produces a smooth and flawless MONO sound throughout (no skips, repeats, pops here). There are some superficial scratches and spindle marks noted and a place on the label of Side 2 where a past owner's name was written in ink that did not fully erase out. This nice vinyl is rated a solid VG+ as to overall condition. A very nice vintage Decca red & white inner sleeve is included (has fine slit a center bottom).
The outer jacket is very solid as to structure all around with no seam splits and completely legible printing on side seam. There is some minor staining on otherwise very clean back cover that also has a spot where old sticker removed in upper left corner. The very nice front jacket cover has some past storage signs above and to the right of Buddy's face and also some wrinkling to lower right side of jacket front. This jacket warrants a very strong VG+ and would be a nice candidate for framing for those so inclined. Album will come with a new poly-slip on outer sleeve and record and jacket separated for shipment in one heavy duty record mailer.
