Description
Budgie : Bandolier A2/B1 1st Press MCA 'Rainbow' Label 1975
This FINAL UPRGADE first pressing plays to an exceptional standard with no obvious interference. One minor crackle sound and just a minimal touch of barely audible static that's about it! The clarity, depth and power of the audio is phenomenal and you could not find better in my humble opinion. The vinyl is visually in beautiful condition and has only been played on a small number of occasions.
The cover is in great condition with only very minimal wear and the inner is also very clean.

Visual grading
The vinyl is visually stunning and still retains an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. I can only locate a small number of very faint sleeve removal hairlines on each side and they obviously have no affect on the stunning audio. The run out grooves are super clean and the MCA 'rainbow' labels have only very minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The intro on 'Breaking All The House Rules' has no interference and first vocal is of the same standard. From then on it plays as a lightly played vinyl should - with superb clarity and definition and no 'background' at all. There is no 'muddiness' to the sound and it basically plays as well as it would've done back in '75! The instrumental sections are so deep and powerful and from start to finish it plays a blinder! A Mint start if ever there was.
The acoustic 'Slipaway' plays beautifully from the word go. There is only the a couple of moments of barely audible static on the intro and from then on it plays with stunning clarity. For a 46 year old record to play this cleanly and on a relatively quiet track is rare and there are no ticks, clicks or pops. A sublime Mint- version.
The super quiet intro on 'Who Do You Want For Your Love?' plays incredibly well with barely any static and keeps to a 'high end' standard as the volume increases. There is a such a strong bass line on this track and it continues to play with imperious quality with no sign of any interference. This is easily Mint- as I cannot find any fault plus the long fade out has no 'background'. Superb!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
'I Can't See My Feelings' plays with genuine precision from the very first groove and continues to play with stunning sonic quality. I did detect 3/4 minor static ticks but, as I often say, they are not clicks! Each section plays so clearly and with great power - a very strong Mint- start to the side.
'I Ain't No Mountain' is so close to perfect audio! Indeed it plays with perfect clarity until the very end where you can hear one crackle sound on the fade out. Mint-
The acoustic intro on 'Napoleon Bona-Part One' has only a couple of very minor ticks at the start and as the vocal begins the playback is superb! It proceeds in the same way with not so much as a dust tick and it just could not play any better. The clarity here is outstanding! As the pace quickens it plays so clearly and once the true Budgie sound comes in there is no decrease in quality and continues like this to the very end. Part Two is equally as impressive with no interference whatsoever and this entire classic brings the album to a satisfying Mint- conclusion. What a version!
In summary this first pressing plays to an incredible standard with no interference. The clarity and power of the audio is on another level and this has clearly been so well preserved down the years. It easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive copy as you could not find better audio if you tried! Perhaps not surprising in a way as the vinyl is visually so impressive and having 'cleaned' it it really brings out the best in the sound. The clarity and definition of the audio is so strong and together with a very clean cover this will impress any avid Budgie collector.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in superb condition with hardly any shelf wear. The top edge has only a couple of minor 'rubs' and the bottom edge has only a little more which really isn't that noticeable anyway. The thin pinched spine is very clean with only some very minor 'specks' and the corners have only very minor wear. The right hand corners have just a little more but it is still minimal. The opening edge is as near to perfect as could be. The front cover is in fantastic condition with no marking and only a handful of mega light creases around the edges and the back cover is just as impressive. Just a small amount of wear in the bottom right corner.
I don't think this is the original but the EMI die-cut inner is in excellent condition with no side splits and only light age related fading around the edges and hardly any creasing.
