APPLE
"LET'S TAKE A TRIP DOWN THE RHINE" b/w "BUFFALO BILLYCAN"

7" on the original PAGE ONE RECORDS POF 101 from 1968


The music eminating from the mid-60's period was so fast-changing, and so wonderfully imaginative that it's hard to believe that such a short period could be so fantastically formative or influential.
It mirrors the American 'Rock 'n Roll' era that spawned The Crickets with Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley - in that these 3 years or so from 1966 to 1969 were full of unique and compulsive recordings.
Here's a prime example, with a melding of 'Creation' Mod styled brashness, that rough-edged guitar grumble and distinctly basic - but upfront - loud production *thrusted* the whole sound out from the grooves! POW! In your face and in your ears - no decibel wasted.
Occasionally this could sound 'crowded' and distorted, but not in this case.
This band are highly sought and renowned, and psych comps feature this 'flip' side a lot - and no surprise there as it is both commercial, instant and vital as a GREAT example of freaky pop-art beat.
The top side though, just takes a few plays to grow and play on your mind - for me it's just as excellent as the better-known flip side.
Here's a DEMO copy in lovely shape - playing and sounding fantastic.


The vinyl is EX / VG++ with top shine and just a couple of light surface marks visible.
The lables are clean and bright EX
The Page One company cover is included.
