·       BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD – THE SAME-TITLED FIRST ALBUM - ATCO RECORDS ORIGINAL 1966 STEREO LP SD-33-200

·       ORIGINAL U.S. PRESSING

·       ULTRA-RARE WITHDRAWN, FIRST PRESSING WITH THE SONG “BABY, DON’T SCOLD ME” INSTEAD OF A SUBSEQUENT HIT SINGLE “FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH”.

·       NOTE: ATCO used three (3) different catalog numbers for this album: the first number is SD-33-200, which is found only on original, withdrawn version with “Baby don’t scold me” ; the second number SD-33-200-A was used on the more common version with “For what it’s worth” instead of “Baby don’t scold me” and the third number: SD-33-201-A was used on all post-1969 pressings on yellow ATCO label (all of which, of course, have “For what it’s worth”). What we have here is the very first catalog number: SD-33-200.

·       MONSTROUSLY RARE STEREO PRESSING, MANY TIMES RARER THAN MONO

·       ORIGINAL PURPLE AND TAN ATCO STEREO LABEL

·       THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, AUTHENTIC, FIRST U.S. PRESSING; THIS IS NOT A REISSUE, AN IMPORT, OR A COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

·       THICK CARDBOARD COVER, AMERICAN STYLE.

·       BEAUTIFUL, WEAR-FREE LABELS

·       THICK, HEAVY VINYL PRESSING

·       STEREO VERSION OF THE WITHDRAWN SONG (“BABY DON’T SCOLD ME”) HAS NEVER BEEN AVAILABLE ON LEGITIMATE COMPACT DISC OR IN ANY OTHER WAY, MANNER OR FORMAT; THE RECENT RHINO/WARNER REISSUE CONTAINS ONLY THE MONO VERSION OF THE SONG. WE BELIEVE THAT ORIGINAL MULTI-TRACK SOURCE (MASTER TAPE) OF THIS SONG NO LONGER EXISTS AND WAS (PROBABLY) DESTROYED IN THE FIRE WHICH DESTROYED ATLANTIC’S MID-MANHATTAN STUDIOS IN THE EARLY 1970’s.

(PLEASE SEE THE IMAGE OF THE COVER, LABEL OR BOTH, SHOWN BELOW)

(Note: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT a "recycled" image from our previous auction. What you see is what you’ll get. GUARANTEED!)

·                               CONDITION:

·                               RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Withdawn “Baby don’t scold me” pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its regular, stock counterpart. We estimate that withdrawn copies of this album outnumber “regular” (later) copies by a ratio of at least 100:1.

(e)           In ADDITION, stereo pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies by a ratio of at least 20:1 (this ratio refers to the ratio of withdrawn stereo copies vs. withdrawn mono copies, NOT regular stereo copies vs. regular mono copies)

(f)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3 (front side) and 4 (back side)

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on top and bottom seams

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / frayed / bent (just a beginning of the split seam)

-        Cover has a partially split top seam (between 2 and 4 inches / 5 to 10 centimeters)

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-        Cover has a visible wrinkle (crease) in the cardboard base on the front panel

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage
