The visitors of our eBay auctions know that we take a dim view of the concept of "White" Blues. For the most part, the notion is just a Caucasian self-gratification, and nothing else. It's not that white folks (of whom we are proud card-carrying members) cannot feel the blues vibe - it's just that most of them have been too shielded from the harmful impact of life, and simply cannot relate to the blues experience. But then, it also helps explain why young Black people in this country can't play blues either - they, too, have been too pampered to feel the agony of their ancestors. Hip-hop and blues don't mix well.

Having said this, we must point out numerous noble exceptions that warrant an honorable mention here: the list is actually pretty long, but we think that John Hammond, Jr., Alexis Corner, Keef Hartley, The Savoy Brown, Peter Green, Duane Allman, John Mayall, Ry Cooder, Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Graham Bond, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bonnie Raitt deserve to make it to the Dean's list. Rolling Stones should also be included,  for their great love of the genre which they greatly helped propagate.

We proudly present here what we strongly believe is one of two finest white blues albums ever recorded (the other being John Hammond Jr.'s "I can tell"): the scorching 1966 Paul Butterfield Blues Band's "East/West", which includes a truly earth-shattering fretwork by Mike Bloomfield. But then, we are entirely partial: we've never met a Mike Bloomfield solo we didn't like.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 5:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP; HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS EXCELLENT OR VG+++

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a small cutout hole in one of the corners

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        Cover has a visible "wrinkle"(crease)  in one of the corners.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
