Description

!!! IT'S GOTTA HAVE SOUL !!!

HALF PRICE 8 FOR 4 $ALE !!!

I am pleased to offer EIGHT RARE 45RPM Records... by EIGHT MASTERS OF SOUL ARTISTS/GROUPS ... FROM DIFFERENT CITIES ... IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY ... SOME FROM THE SOUTH ... OTHERS IN THE NORTH ... FROM CHICAGO TO TEXAS TO MEMPHIS ...
... ON THE MIGHTY MISSISSIPPI ... THE AMERICAN RIVER THAT GAVE BIRTH NOT ONLY TO THE BLUES ... BUT ALSO TO JAZZ ... ROCK & ROLL ... AND, CERTAINLY, BROUGHT TRUE MEANING TO SOUL MUSIC.

I have decided to dig into my extensive collection of soul music and offer it for sale over the next several months on eBay.  Having become an adult in the '50s through military service, I spent the 'sixties knee deep in everything that went on during this ... in my opinion ... most exciting time in American music history... and, perhaps, in all Ameican history.

Like many of you, my earliest musical memories are of the church and of sitting at my mother's and father's knees in front of a blazing fire place listening to them "sing up every song" they knew.  Most of these musical memories still bring tears of joy to my eyes.  Each and every one of them were sung from the heart and soul.

But, back to the sixties.  My memories are of the wonderful Friday night and Saturday night dances ... when my beautiful wife and I drove down to LaGrange the day before the dance early enough for her to spend hours preparing herself to "go out boogieing" to the music of her youngest brother's band at one of the local clubs.  Since LaGrange was dry during those days, the only place to get a drink other than beer was at the local private clubs.
We managed to get in wherever Cliff was playing without having membership cards.  During the peak of soul music popularity, Cliff had a young Caucasion singer who did a fabulous job of delivering Wilson Picket, Percy Sledge, Clarence Carter, Joe Tex, Soloman Burke and Otis Redding; with a few Ray Charles and Chubby Checker songs thrown in for good measure.  After a few Bourbon and Coke, we literally "danced our ass off" until the band played... and played ... and played "What'd I Say" ... which sent everybody, exhausted to bed.. or to one of the late night fish camps just across the line in neighboring counties.

My fondest musical experiences and memories of the decade were nights on the town in Atlanta with my belle of the ball.  One experience in particular is of one night on some special occasion ... perhaps an anniversary ... when I made reservations for us to go see Joe Simon, a favorite of ours at that time.  Louise had used the occasion to make several trips to various Atlanta shopping malls so that she would look just right for the occasion.  On the long anticipated day, she took most of the afternoon preparing herself ... and the result was incredible.  The song-writer who wrote the following must have been reading my mind that night ... as i whisked my fairytale lady down the stairs and out to open the door for her to climb into her charriot:

"Put on your red dress baby ...
Cause we goin' out tonight ...
...
Better wear some boxin' gloves
In case some fool might wanta fight.

Put on your hi-Heel Sneakers ...
Wear your wig-hat on your head ...
...

I'm pretty sure now baby ...
Pretty sure you're gonna knock 'em dead." - sung by Tommy Tucker

I was even prouder when I escorted her into the club where Joe Simon was already on stage with the Memphis Horns section lined up behind him in a chorus-girl line ... all ready to start a-dancing and a-prancing ... blasting their horns ... doing their thing.  The place was packed with mostly Afro-Americans out on the town ready to jump and jive like only Afro-Americans really know how.  The head waiter informed us there wasn't a seat left in the house.  No amount of begging and pleading ... or bribery could change his mind.  Mrs. Knock-'em-dead had attracted a lot of attention when we came in the door.  One of those who was paying attention was Joe himself.  He got the attention of the head waiter and stuck his hand out palm up to indicate a spare space extension of the stage to his left... and asked the waiter if he couldn't find a table and a couple of chairs for his lovely special guest to occupy that space.  The waiter reached and took the fifty dollar bill I had offered him out of my hand and scurried off to find the table and chairs somewhere back of the stage.  For that entire evening Joe sang as much to my lady as to the audience.  The audience took up the joyful celebration.  It was one of the high points of our 47 years together.  A few months earlier my wife and I took our nine-year-old nephew to see Janis Joplin at The Georgia Tech Arena.  She absolutely made the Arena rock that night ... in addition to swilling down a quart of Southern Comfort.  We didn't know she was back in Atlanta the same evening we were being hosted by Joe Simon.  To our surprise and everyone else's surprise, around midnight ... in walks Janis with her latest gypsy outfit.  She and Joe finished off the evening by performing several of her and his hits together.  What a grand finale to a perfect evening !!!

All of these artists/groups I will be featuring over the next few months have fans and collectors all over the world who seek and highly prize their recordings. These EIGHT records are guaranteed to get your phono or jukebox jumpin'... with SIXTEEN '50s and '60s musical gems ... that bring back memories of how great Rock 'N' Roll sounded... and stirred the soul of millions... from all generations... from all the far-flung corners of the earth... in the genesis of it's birth... created and performed by  the artists recognized worldwide by fans and musicians alike as collectable purveyors of Soul.  A big shout-out of appreciation to all the soulful masters who made the '60s so exciting and memorable.

I never sell recorded music without playing it first in its entirity... including CDs, Cassettes and DVDs. Price comparisons are made on eBay for items in comparable condition... if available.  Other sources of comparison for price are Goldmine and Jerry Osborne's price guides.  A price estimate is then reduced by 20-50 % for targeting the eBay listed price of each item or lot.  This process takes time but assures fair pricing of all my listings.

I estimate a BIN price for the 8 45RPMs if they were in NM condition would be $ $ 157.50.  The condition adjusted price for the 8 is $ 127.81 and the Half BIN price is $ 63.91.  This listing is based upon my wholesale lot pricing which is 50% off the condition adjusted BIN price for the first FOUR records ...
$ 62.46 ... plus the added bonus of one record free for each one you purchase.  This wholesale pricing results in a BIN price of $43.91; and brings the starting bid price for the 8 item lot down to $ 17.56 ... a full 60 % below the BIN price !!!

And, you get FOUR of the SOUL Classic 45RPMs ... estimated value of $ 40.00 ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

And, you get triple savings... each item is wrapped in bubble wrap and surrounded snugly by bubble wrap in a cardboard box; stamped profusely all over with "Fragile" and "Do Not Bend"; insured; and shipped by USPS Media Mail ...  ABSOLUTELY FREE to domestic(continental U.S.) buyers(*)... and you'll never be able to purchase as much value, as economically nor hear SOUL played and sung from the heart and SOUL of America as convincingly as from these SOUL artists.

And, if you buy more than one of my listings, your 2nd (highest price) purchase of  my listings will be eligible for a 20 % muliple-listing purchase discount. Your 3rd (next highest) purchase of one of my listings and each subsequent purchase will be eligible for a 30 % multiple-purchase discount.  I combine multi-listings to provide the lowest shipping costs possible.  If you would prefer your shipment expedited, just send me an email on eBay and request it added to your total invoice. (*)I will be listing many artists including Elvis, Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Frank Sinatra and many of the Big Band, Blues & C&W performers from the 30's up to the turn of the 21st Century... many of who's performances are only available through remastered CDs and box sets.  However, if you buy more than one of my listings you should notify me of your intentions and request a discount adjusted total invoice before authorizing PayPal to transfer payment.

International buyers, in particular, appreciate the lower customs charges resulting from my multiple-listing pricing; the lower shipping cost resulting from my combined shipping and USPS First Class International shipping; and my personal, dedicated service resulting from having lived for three and a half years outside the United States and having traveled extensively worldwide and established relationships with people of all nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds.  I can truthfully say for most circumstances "Been there; done that." [NOTE: USPS will not permit shipping pacages weighing 3 lbs. or more by International First Class.  Packages heavier than 3 lbs. are required to be shipped Priotity or Express mail.  This is particularly troublesome for International buyers who wish combined shipping.  If the resulting combined package is greater than 3 lbs. , I sometimes find splitting the packages into two or more packages may reduce the shipping cost.  I will let you know if this is the case when I send the final invoice.  If you wish to know the total shipping cost before you decide to purchase more than one of my listings ... request the combined cost in a eBay message to my eBay address.]

If you think my deals are unbelievable... that's because they are.
