Description
This LP, recorded in London in 1976, contains some amazing virtuoso double-bass improvisation from a legendary avant-garde bass player – one of the nicest guys in the improvised music scene – who will (unbelievably!) be 70 later this month!
The music here is the result of "an afternoon's playing in the studio", where he approached it as he would have done for a live concert. So he avoided multi-tracking and "other articifial procedures", and focused on improvising over a period of hours... so what you hear on the LP is pure inspired and amazing Barry Guy – though, as the cover photo shows, he actually plays two double basses at the same time!
The LP has only been removed from its plastic cover for the photograph, so the cover is in VG condition, just like the LP inside, which I would classify as VG+ condition (see discogs.com for ratings explanations).
Copies of this great record have sold on Discogs for an average price of around £60, though the most recent sale was for £72.66. We have moved house, and no longer have the ability to play or the space to house my collection of jazz and free-jazz LPs, so I am offering this beautiful LP for £56. Grab it while it's available! (And if you'd like to see the list of other LPs which are waiting to be sold, please get in touch...)
The LP will be carefully packaged in a proper reinforced LP mailer and posted within the UK for £6.95 p&p. If you'd like it sent abroad, please contact me before bidding so I can find a price which includes tracking and a signature to get it safely to you, or it will come via Ebay's own international delivery service.
