Description
2001 Rough Trade UK press, which is the only press, it's not been reissued.
Cover in good shape, slight crunch on corner, seen in the pictures. original inner included.
Record was cleaned on a Record Doctor machine, and then I listened to the whole thing with headphones, like really intently listening.
So the music itself sounds stellar, it's like, the whole "warmth of vinyl" vibe is here, it sounds deep and delicate, and soulful and all that shit.
Of course the vinyl experience does have it's issues, namely background static, crackling, pops and clicks etc. it's not a CD made by robots in a climate controlled laboratory or whatever.
OK, so, there is is levels of background crackling pretty much anywhere from "I can barely hear it" to "fuck, that was a loud pop". I would say "it's only noticeable during the quieter parts of the music" but pretty much the whole album is quiet. There are some louder, or "electric" songs, or parts of songs, like "Clear Day" "Lose Me On The Way", "On The Low" but there's not too many portions like that. So the whole album essentially has at least some background noise in between tracks, during tracks. Does it ruin the whole album, or ruin the whole listening experience? not really to me, but again, it's the entire thing, there's really no moments where it's dead quiet.
I saw some other listing by some other guy who specified what his record player was etc., so I guess his point being, maybe your system isn't the same and it'll sound different on your stereo.
I use a lightly modified SL-1200MK2, and a Hana EL cartridge.
the songs are 100% great, it's a great album, and it's rare to find a vinyl copy. This one was bought new by me, I'm the only owner. It's cool and beautiful, and rare and all that, but it is noisy.
