As a music lover of all genres (except techno), this set is the top of the heap. A+ on the quality of the book, binding, content, structural integrity of the casing (box), and of course the music selections. The excellent quality vinyl is nice and straight. This is fast becoming one of the most sought after box sets in music. This set is # 2316 of only 5000. Condition is MINT all around and still in the plastic wrap. Though opened, the set has never been played, I have another listening copy for myself. The Boys narrate the musical journey with a stunning 80-page booklet. Yauch, Diamond, and Horovitz tell juicy stories and expose introspective moments alongside full-color photos, building a chronology through each of the songs, all the way up to "Alive." after five studio albums, a batch of EPs and singles, and millions of sales - The Sounds of Science tries to make sense of it all, with forty-two tracks spanning the Beasties' eighteen years. But it's more of an odds-and-ends compilation for committed fans than it is the definitive overview that the Beasties deserve. Though the two-disc set covers most of the obvious career high points - the rap-metal party tunes from Licensed to Ill, the groundbreaking sonic collages of Paul's Boutique, the funky rap-rock of Check Your Head and Ill Communication, and the old-school reaffirmations of Hello Nasty - it's also clogged with esoterica: more than a dozen B sides, unreleased tracks and rarities.
