THE BEATLES - 'ABBEY ROAD '
ULTRA-RARE 1969 UK **EXPORT** PRESSING
***DECCA PRESSING***
The Apple Records trademark was not registered in certain territories upon this album's release in September 1969.
Therefore EMI had to press 'Parlophone' labelled copies for export to these countries.
An unknown, but extremely limited quantity, were pressed under contract by EMI by Decca Records thereby producing one of the rarest Beatles LPs.
This ultra-rare 1969 DECCA pressed EXPORT copy is on the UK black & silver 'One EMI box' Parlophone label: PPCS 7088
Both labels show the charateristic deep groove 13mm from the labels edge.
The labels carry the 'An EMI Recording' and 'Made in Gt. Brtiain' texts with 'Gramophone Co Ltd...' rims.
There is no tax/price code is visible on either label.
Housed in a fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover with the misaligned Apple on the rear.
(This copy has lost its gold 'Parlophone' sticker which would have covered the Apple logo.)
Complete with its original white 'Patent No.1,125,555 inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 749-4-3U & YEX 750-1
Stamper numbers: 1 & 1
Labels: EXCELLENT MINUS
Some light wear to the centre hole and a small hairline scratch on the side 2 label but no writing, stickers or missing paper.
Visual: VERY GOOD MINUS
The disc has been played many times and displays moderate handling wear.
Under a halogen desk lamp many light sleeve removal hairlines are visible along with some light stylus lines and 'fingernail' scuffs.
The only major/'feelable' mark is a 9mm scratch from the outer edge inwards at an angle on side 1.
There is a 'dish' visible when playing side 1 which does not affect play but side 2 lies 100% flat.
Audio: GOOD
The disc has unfortunately not been treated with the best of care and does have some audible faults - however it is clearly not a copy to be played.
The major faults are multiple jumps during 'Come Together', two on 'Something' and two more on 'Here Comes The Sun'.
The remainder of the disc plays well with just some light background during quieter passages but no other major wear.
Cover: VERY GOOD PLUS
This early 'misaligned Apple' cover is without its rear 'Parlophone' gold sticker but is in respectable shape nonetheless with no major faults.
There is general handling and storage wear to both panels with some light bruising to the corners but a clean and undamaged opening edge.
The spine is undamaged and the seams are unstressed and unsplit.
Strict visual & audible gradings under intense direct light & at volume on high-end audio equipment
