Beatles BUTCHER COVER 2nd State MONO Original LP 1966

THE BEATLES' BUTCHER COVER '"YESTERDAY" ...AND TODAY' MONO LP (Capitol T-2553, MONO). 1966.
This is the real thing, known as the BUTCHER COVER in "Second State". That is because this is a copy with the trunk cover steamed over the original butcher cover by Capitol Records. (A.k.a. "Pasteover Cover". )

Look in the white area just to the right of the top of the steamer trunk and Ringo’s elbow, you can see the faint image of Ringo’s black shirt, from the butcher cover photo, showing through the white background of the slick.

When word got out in 1966 as to what Capitol had done, many curious record buyers began trying unsuccessfully to peel off the steamer trunk covers to see if they had a butcher cover hidden underneath, but usually ended up destroying their cover. Consequently, second state copies of the album are now quite rare. There are professional methods for peeling a second state copy, but that should be handled by an expert.

The cover needs to be taped together; has ringwear, stains, scuffs, etc. The bottom of the back is damaged so that the number is not there. But this is the real thing.
The LP itself is clean and has some surface marks. No skips when we played it. Sounded good. (If I were grading, I would give a VG, to be conservative.)
