- For sale is a rare Beatles collectible: this is a mono ‘Butcher Slick’ the paper that would have been pasted on to the front cardboard cover of The Beatles Yesterday & Today album released in June 1966. From the background checking and research that was done, this appears to be an authentic production slick and NOT one of the many copies that are frequently offered for sale on ebay. It measures 11.75w x 12h indicating it may have had a slight trim to right edge. The color and stock texture is the same as those on authentic butcher jackets that it was compared to. Was it peeled off of a jacket w/trunk or never applied at all? It’s hard to say but there are faint ‘sucker marks’ which are often seen on peeled butcher slicks. See photo #3. [Pic 8 shows a different 3rd state butcher cover with these circles more pronounced] Pic #5 shows the slick held up to a light and the 1" vertical spacing of lines from the back. It also has 2 tiny spots of paper attached to it in the lower left corner by John’s knee so it may have come off when the trunk slick was peeled?
