Sadly the worse for wear, but still a piece of Pop history. The Beatles Please Please Me with the original Black & Gold label Mono version.
The Beatles - Please Please Me (Parlophone PMC 1202 : Mono : Rare Black And Gold Label. The record has the stamper codes and matrix - Side A - XEX-421-1N Stamper Code - H. Side B - XEX422. I believe this to be one of the very first of the Black and Gold Monos to be pressed. This is an opportunity to buy probably the rarest official UK Beatles album, the stamper codes make this copy one of the first off the press.
Cover. As you can see from the picture, all 4 sides have had damage and have been repaired with sellotape, most of which has been removed. In fact, at some point in the past the entire top flip back on the rear has been lost. There is a fair amount of wear on all 4 corners and some writing on the back, although none on the front. No real tears anywhere except the damage to the edges.
Record. Labels in reasonably good condition with no writing, tears or stickers. There appears to be quite a lot of surface scratches. I have played the first track on each side and they both play through without any jumps on my system although there is a fair amount of surface noise. It could well jump with a lighter pick up but few buyers will want it for it's playing qualities! I've not played the whole record, but in my experience most problems occur at the start of a record where the needle comes down. All in all, this record has it's problems, but is still a piece of Pop history. While this record is not in very good condition, it is still rare and marks the start of the greatest band ever. These will remain valuable and collectable for ever. Please ask me any questions before you bid as I want the eventual buyer to know exactly what they are getting. Sold as seen!! I have set the reserve at a realistic level which is below any price I have seen on ebay for a Black & Gold for a long time. Post & Packing within the UK will be £4, with a bit extra if you want it registered/insured. Overseas will cost more. Please add 4% if you use Paypal to cover their costs.
