Description
Please Please Me (Black and Gold) 1 st press!!
With VERY early Stampers/Mothers
I have just finished playing this superb record and didn't get one jump and VERY minimal surface noise!! Sounded great, really rich!!
Cat: PMC 1202
The vinyl: Quite a few visible marks, but NOTHING TO EFFECT PLAY.
The labels: "MT" tax code on side 2 . Hole wear to both sides, please see picture. Very clean overall.'The Parlophone Company' edge lower case text, NO 'Sold In The UK' text, NO 'First Published' text, a LARGE 'MONO' on the cover front
1st press: Songs 1,2,6 & 7 on side 1 as well as songs 4 & 6 on side 2 have the "DICK JAMES MUS. Co." credit.
VERY Early Mother Stampers: Side 1: 1/L Side 2: 1/P
Matrix Numbers: Side 1: XEX 421-1N Side 2: XEX 422-1N
The Cover: Unfortunately the cover has seen better days. The back of the ORIGINAL Ernest. J. Day has some lifting in areas from the flip back. There is also a split to the bottom left corner where the flipback has come away. Corners are a little scuffed with the top right having a 1.5cm split. Angus McBean is in the extreme bottom right corner on the front. The front cover is still very bright even though each side has (or has at some stage) had 5mm of tape across the length of the sides. The spine is still very strong and the whole cover doesn't have ANY writing anywhere! ALL ORIGINAL!! WOULD STILL LOOK GOOD FRAMED.
The inner: Original "Use Emitex" plastic lined inner. It has splits to the left and right, but other than that in pretty good shape for its age.
Labels: VG+. Here we have the 6 credits for Dick James, as listed above. You can see spindle wear on both sides, but other than that the labels are still very bright and vibrant, with no peeling or writing anywhere. The GOLD lettering is still as bold as ever. The "M" from the "MT" tax code is visible to the naked eye, on side 2.
Vinyl: VG+ (purely due to vsible marks but no distortion in sound at all). NO jumps or skips at all! Good ole British made in the old days!
Audio: VG+ (both run-ins are silent without pops and crackles). If it was given a professional clean it would get up to Excellent-, in my opinion.
Cover: Good ++(front laminated E.J.Day cover). With the much debated "Angus McBean" credit in the extreme lower right corner. Where the tape has been before, has actually preserved the spines really rather well as there aren't any splits evident apart from the top right (as mentioned above and maybe a small 3mm one just about to come through at the bottom).
Please see my feedback for accuracy of my descriptions...
THIS IS ONE VERY EARLY PRESSING AND WOULD LOOK GREAT IN ANY COLLECTION!!!!
Overall a beauty to play and listen to. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Shipping will be by way of stiff cardboard and good strong packaging.
