Insanely rare! In my 50 years collecting records I have never seen this one. The history as I understand it is that EMI around 1982 decided to re- produce all the previous 14 Beatles Albums on both LP Records & Cassette Tapes on a Limited Edition Box Set.Unlike all other Box Sets manufactured in all other major countries EMI Australia decided to be exclusive & make the box extra attractive & different by making it encased in gold foil.Was this a smart decision? It was an immediate DISASTER!.Retailers complained that the boxes arrived at stores already damaged as the gold foil was particularly delicate & the tiniest rubbing against each other or indelicate packing ripped & teared or marked the delicate foil.In addition store staff & buyers handling the box had a similar negative effect to the box & being a high priced item with no protective covering it was unsellable.It was quickly withdrawn from all music retailers & scrapped! It was quickly replaced with a plain cardboard blue box which is also very rare,but not in the same league as this insanely rare withdrawn box set. I would think that adding up the facts that it was only produced in Australia,was quickly withdrawn from sale & only sold in very small numbers & because of it's delicate nature, & the elapse of 35 years,few if any, would now exist in a reasonable condition. It would undoubtedly be one of the rarest pieces of Beatles Memorabillia to be offered for sale! The box itself is in outstanding condition,Fully intact as shown.The gold foil is also mostly intact with only small areas of chips or tears & nothing major as shown. An experienced hobbiest could do wonders with foil! The cassettes appear in good condition,many with evenly wound tape indicating little use.There are 11 tapes,all are the correct tape for this box set & all are with the correct Aust product number (TC-PCSO) There are 3 tapes missing from the 14 in the set. These appear for sale on this site from time to time (in fact 2 are for sale right now) so you can complete the set if you wish. My price has been reduced by $50 to allow for this.I will inform the buyer of the details of the missing tapes Beatles Collectables are booming in price & this extremally rare item will do so as well!
